Breaking both his legs in his early teens resulted in his reaching young adulthood with a body trunk of normal size but with abnormally short legs. He was only 4.5 feet tall. Deprived of the kind of life that a normal body would have permitted, Toulouse-Lautrec lived wholly for his art.
He created thousands of artworks both to memorialize his friends and to advertise their venues. Since then his paintings and posters--particularly the `Moulin Rouge' group--have been in great demand and bring high prices at auctions and art sales.
Moulin Rouge includes a sculpted frame with gentle engravings designed to emphasize the art. The frame also includes a wooden liner with a subtle fillet. The frame color is black with a rich antique gold accent.
